Erik Ten Hag Departs as United Struggles Continue

Erik ten Hag has officially left Manchester United after the team's 2-1 Premier League loss against West Ham United.

The squad is currently in a dismal 14th place in the league rankings after the Dutch manager, who joined United in 2022, guided it to an FA Cup triumph last season and an EFL Cup in 2022–23.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, a former player who joined Ten Hag's team during the summer, was quickly named temporary manager of United. The goal is to hire a new head coach from outside the organization.

The pressure increased this season as United had their worst Premier League start, despite Ten Hag leading the team to domestic cup victories and a third-place league finish in 2022–2023.

The team made significant summer expenditures, but when results did not improve, United's leadership was forced to split.

Rumor has it that a number of people, including former England manager Gareth Southgate and former Barcelona coach Xavi, are on United's shortlist for the permanent position.

Potential alternatives are also being considered, including free-agent managers like Graham Potter, Massimiliano Allegri, and Zinedine Zidane. For now, Van Nistelrooy, a favorite of United supporters, will captain the squad for the first time on Wednesday when they play Leicester City in the EFL Cup.

As the serious hunt for a permanent leader gets underway, United supporters will be keenly observing to see if Van Nistelrooy's term sparks something in the team.
